Mother's Day 2020 - During the Coronavirus Pandemic
What sentiments do you have for your mom this weekend?
- A mother’s work is never done—but today, you deserve a rest.
- Mothers are like buttons, they hold everything together!
- Home is wherever Mom is.
- Sometimes when I open my mouth, my mother comes out.
- I miss you mom.
Maybe you're up for a famous quote about moms...
"It's not easy being a mom. If it were easy, fathers would do it." – Betty White
"Clarity and focus doesn't always come from God or inspirational quotes. Usually, it takes your mother to slap the reality back into you." — Shannon L. Alder
“In the end, mothers are always right. No one else tells the truth.” —Randy Susan Meyers
So, what will you do for mom if you can't be together?
With some creativity and preparation, you can give your mom the Mother's Day she deserves — and, let's face it, needs — during quarantine. This list of ideas that don't require you or your mom to leave the house, so you can continue to practice social distancing and stay safe.
Start her day on the right note by showing up at her door with a tray full of her favorite breakfast food. And if you can't deliver in person, order coffee or breakfast from her favorite local spot and have it delivered right when she wakes up.
When you drop off her Mother's Day card and gift, take some extra time to decorate her door with a spring wreath. That way, she'll be surprised with a burst of cheer when she opens her door — and she can leave it up for the neighborhood to see all season long.
Raise a glass to the woman who raised you — the virtual way. It's your call: Once you sign on to the video conferencing app of your choice, play games, tune into a virtual concert, or simply chat the night away with a cocktail in hand.
Learn something new together — the virtual way. It's your call: Cooking, dancing, meditating and more. There are so many classes online now! Think of something mom has always wanted to learn and sign the two of you up together!
How about those that live with their mom?
A Mother's Day Buffet! Some moms prefer waking up to a fully-cooked breakfast. Others like the versatility that comes with grab-and-go breakfasts and family-style spreads. Think of her favorite breakfast food — bagels, pancakes, waffles, you name it — and assemble a party spread with all the fixins'. The most important part - CLEAN UP! Do not leave the after breakfast mess for mom.
At home spa day! Chances are that she's in desperate need of quality R&R. You can check a few things off mom's ever-growing list like a spring pedicure/manicure, facial or root touch up. Just let her sit back and relax while you do the work. (And again - clean up!)
