Things home buyers and sellers discuss at closing
The relationship between home buyers and sellers can be all over the board but in the end both parties are often sitting across the table from each other in a title closing office. Here are some tips for making conversation during quite times no matter how the transaction has gone.
Here are some things home buyers and sellers discuss at closing:
- Transfer of utilities
- Local services/repair people (think sprinkler blow-outs, lakeshore maintenance, snow plowing, etc)
- Who are the neighbors
- Trash day
- Home quirks
- Extra keys/garage door openers
- Seller's forward mailing address (if agreeable)
- School bus stops
- Food delivery
You get the idea. The conversation doesn't have to be personal or small talk. It's most beneficial to talk about the home, neighborhood and community.
Some buyers and sellers have great relationships and want to take photos together. Often there will be a group photo with EVERYONE at closing... after all, there were a lot of people involved to get to this day and it was a BIG DEAL! What was once scrapbooking is now social media...but it's all about the memories. Let's make it a HAPPY one!
