What are the drawbacks of buying and/or selling a home in the winter?
Let’s start with the #1 obvious reason: Stigma - over time, people have come to believe that the winter is a bad time to buy or sell.
What are some other reasons that may keep people from buying and selling homes in the winter?
- Holiday Chaos - many people experience a lot of chaos over the holidays from gatherings to shopping to travel delays.
- Home inspections - there are things that are hard (or impossible) to inspect in the winter - like AC units and sometimes roofs. (Just get a warranty, guarantee or price adjustment.)
- Baby it's COLD (and dark) outside! As a seller, it's harder to go for a walk during showings and keep all your winter outdoor gear at bay. As a buyer it's more bundling up and going out potentially after dark to see homes. (Thank goodness for online searching and virtual tours!)
What’s your reason to move in the winter? I would love to hear it!
